(KMOV) – One person was killed and another person was injured after a single-vehicle wreck in south St. Louis late Tuesday night.
According to authorities, the car was traveling on southbound Interstate 55 near the Interstate 44 split just before 11 p.m. when they crashed into a guard rail.
Crews responded to the scene and used the Jaws of Life to free one person trapped inside the vehicle.
The other occupant was transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
All lanes of I-55 and some lanes of I-44 were shut down while crews worked to clear the scene. They have since re-opened.
The cause of the wreck was not immediately known.
