PINE LAWN, Mo. (KMOV) – A 21-year-old man was charged Monday for allegedly breaking into a Pine Lawn apartment and raping a woman while her two young children were sleeping. Demetrious Edwards was charged with rape, two counts of forcible sodomy, burglary, and robbery. Authorities said Edwards allegedly broke into the victim's apartment early Sunday, raped her, and forced her to drive to an ATM and withdraw money. Police say Edwards knew the victim lived alone, and had just moved into her apartment. Officials say they caught Edwards when he called the woman’s cell phone to intimidate her. Edwards is being held on $450,000 bond.
