A former special education mentor from Randolph County, Illinois was charged on Tuesday with sexually assaulting one of her students. Sherry Carnahan, 36, was charged with predatory sexual assault of a 13-year-old boy. The alleged incident happened on March 20th. Randolph County Sheriff Mike Hoelscher says the investigation is ongoing and more charges could be filed. Hoelscher says Carnahan was arrested Saturday night, with the boy, at a party. She apparently knew police had been watching her after the Perandoe Special Education District launched its own investigation about a month ago. Carnahan no longer works at the district according to the Sheriff, but that has not been confirmed by the district. Bond was set at $50,000.
