LOS ANGELES (AP) -- The new “Star Trek” movie is number one at the box office. But it didn’t exactly wow ‘em when it came to taking care of business at the cash register. “Star Trek: Into Darkness” took in $70.6 million dollars over the weekend. That would be huge for a lot of movies—but its maker, Paramount, predicted it would pull in about $100 million in its first week of release. The sequel also falls short of its predecessor, which came out in 2009. That opened with $75.2 million for its opening weekend. The Star Trek release knocks “Iron Man 3” down a notch to number two. “The Great Gatsby” is third.
