JERRY LEWIS OFFENDS THE “LAAAAADDDDIIIIEESSSS”
CANNES, France (AP) -- As the cliche goes, Jerry Lewis is the bomb in France. But he isn’t winning many friends on this side of the Atlantic for his take on female comedians. He was asked yesterday at the Cannes (CAN) Film Festival who his favorite female comedian is—and he replied “I don’t have any.” It’s an ongoing issue for the aging comic actor, who said in 1998 that he doesn’t find women funny and that seeing women do jokes “sets me back a bit.” Asked about that again, Lewis said he hasn’t changed his mind—despite the success of performers like Sarah Silverman.
