PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- One of the World War II veterans who was portrayed in the HBO miniseries "Band of Brothers" has died. William "Wild Bill" Guarnere (gar-NAYR') died of a ruptured aneurysm Saturday night in Philadelphia. He was 90. Guarnere was portrayed by Frank John Hughes in the miniseries, which followed the members of Easy Company, 506th Regiment, 101st Airborne Division. Guarnere became known as "Wild Bill" because of his combat exploits, and he lost a leg while trying to help a wounded soldier during the Battle of the Bulge.
