WESLEY SNIPES: REPORTS TO PRISON TODAY
Credit: AP
ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) -- Wesley Snipes is to report to prison today. But not before throwing up one last "Hail Mary" effort to get another trial. His attorney filed an emergency motion yesterday in Florida, asking for his case to be retried. Daniel Meachum has claimed for a while that he had received an e-mail from a juror who claims three others on the panel had formed an opinion about Snipes' guilt before the trial. In his motion, Snipes claims the judge made a legal mistake by not giving his lawyers a chance to call in the jurors and ask if the claim about prejudging the case was true. Snipes will be serving three years at a federal prison in Pennsylvania for his conviction on three misdemeanor counts of willful failure to file income taxes.
