MICHAEL VICK: DOGGED BY HIS PAST?

PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- Usually if you hear a star athlete say he'd like a dog, there's nothing but oohs and ahs. But when the athlete is Michael Vick, it gets a little complicated. Vick, of course, did prison time for his part in a dogfighting ring. And has part of his punishment, he is barred from owning a dog for a year and a half. He recently said he'd like to have a dog again -- and that has generated both support and outrage. Vick tells the news site TheGrio.com he genuinely cares about animals and would like a pet dog again, saying it would be "a big step for me in the rehabilitation process." A spokeswoman for PETA says Vick should be banned from owning dogs for life.
