Russian-born American dominates Paralympics

She doesn’t boast the name Michael Phelps or Missy Franklin, but her accomplishments in the pool were no less amazing at the 2012 Paralympics. American Jessica Long finished the Games tied for the lead with eight medals. Long picked up five gold, two silver and one bronze. Long was born with fibular hemimelia, so she didn’t have fibulas, ankles, heels, and most of the other bones in her feet. Long was born in Siberia and was adopted from a Russian orphanage when she was 13 months old.
