Legendary Tennessee women’s basketball coach Pat Summitt announced she was stepping down on April 18, less than a year after being diagnosed with early onset dementia, Alzheimer’s Type. Summitt, 60, was named national coach of the year seven times and won nearly 1,100 games in her Hall of Fame career.
