A Night to Remember at Daytona

The Daytona 500 was held under the lights for the first time on Monday, Feb. 27 after rain forced a 30-hour delay. Matt Kenseth survived that and a bizarre two-hour fire damage delay to edge Dale Earnhardt Jr. for the checkered flag. The fire delay was not due to some spectacular crash at high speed. Under caution, Juan Pablo Montoya spun out on the backstretch and hit a jet dryer up by the wall in Turn 3. The crash resulted in an explosion, with flames shooting into the air and burning jet fuel pouring down the track.
