Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh-Jennings cemented their legend as the best women’s volleyball players on the planet, winning their third straight Olympic gold medal in an All-American final, defeating Jennifer Kessey and April Ross on August 8. It was the final match for May-Treanor, who headed off into retirement and motherhood. It was later revealed that Walsh-Jennings was about five weeks pregnant during the Games.
