Franchitti wins 3rd Indy 500 on Wheldon's day

Dario Franchitti won his third Indianapolis 500 on May 27. Franchitti won a wheel-to-wheel, last-lap battle Sunday with Takuma Sato, their tires briefly touching to send Sato spinning hard into the wall. But the race was dedicated to the late Dan Wheldon, who was killed in a crash during the season-ending race in 2011. Wheldon was the defending Indy 500 champion.
