On August 9, JetBlue flight attendant Steven Slater quit his job in dramatic fashion. According to witnesses, Slater announced over the JetBlue PA that he'd just been called an obscenity by a passenger, grabbed two beers, and deployed the emergency shoot on the New York runway where the plan had just landed. Slater was arrested and later reached a plea deal to avoid jail time.
