ROCKFORD, Ill. (AP) -- Gov. Pat Quinn says he's been making tough decisions and getting things done for Illinois while his challenger sat on the sideline.
But Comptroller Dan Hynes replies that he's running for governor because Quinn hasn't been doing the job.
The two Democrats met Sunday in a candidate forum in Rockford.
Quinn accuses Hynes of disappearing in the spring and summer when state officials were debating how to close the worst budget deficit in Illinois history.
Hynes says Quinn accomplished little on the budget but postponing action until next year.
He also says Quinn spent years as the head cheerleader for former Gov. Rod Blagojevich.
