ST. LOUIS (KMOV) -- Senator Claire McCaskill spent the day campaigning for re-election in the Kansas City area, while some supporters gathered in St. Louis.
McCaskill had scheduled stops in Kansas City and St. Joseph.
A group of military veterans stood in front of the city's Soldiers Memorial to endorse McCaskill.
The vets thanked McCaskill for her support during the VA hospital scandal when patients were exposed to infections because of problems with sterile instruments.
Over the next few days, McCaskill is expected to spend as much as two million dollars in television ads.
Her opponent, Congressman Todd Akin, campaigned in Warrenton, Missouri.
