FORT WAYNE, Ind. (AP) — The three candidates looking to replace former U.S. Rep. Mark Souder will debate the issues Tuesday night on the Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne campus.
The race in northeastern Indiana's 3rd District is one of three in the state where there is no incumbent seeking re-election. Democrat Tom Hayhurst is a physician and former three-term Fort Wayne city councilman. He faces Republican state Sen. Marlin Stutzman of Howe and Libertarian Scott Wise of rural Columbia City.
The debate will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Rhinehart Recital Hall.
Souder was an eight-term Republican congressman. He resigned abruptly in May after admitting an extramarital affair with a staff member.
