NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. (AP) -- Some Southern California drivers are feeling a little flat -- after an accidental encounter with police. It seems a spike strip fell out of a police SUV in Newport Beach. The strip is designed to flatten the tires of a fleeing suspect. A police report says the officer forgot to close the rear door of the Chevy Tahoe before leaving the station. Three drivers have reported flat tires. Two are filing claims against the city. One of those requests is for 900 bucks, for two flat tires on a Jaguar. A city spokeswoman says officials are investigating.
