FRIENDSWOOD, Texas -- A 15-year old girl, home sick from school, was attacked when a burglar found her taking a shower on Tuesday.
It happened in the 16100 block of Bougainvilla Lane in Friendswood.
The girl's mother told KHOU 11 News that she was at a job inteview and her husband was at work when it happened. The mom said the suspect kicked in the front door to burglarize their home and ended up getting in the shower with her daughter.
She managed to fight him off, but told police the man said he had a gun. The girl's mother said the burglar ran off with the family's laptop.
"I think it's messed up really," said neighbor Celeste Hines. "I always lock the doors."
The crime is leaving plenty of people in the neighborhood on edge.
"We moved over here because we thought that it was a better neighborhood," said neighbor Alexa Luttrell. "There was a ton of police cars out here this morning."
Friendswood police brought out their K-9 unit and tracked the path of the suspect to the Heritage Park subdivision, but lost him after that.
This case comes on the heels of another burglary last week in the 1200 block of Arbre Lane.
Pam Cobb admitted that her back door was unlocked that morning.
"The police said that he came straight in took my purse off the counter," said Cobb. "I was upstairs on treadmill and then in the shower."
Cobb heard the door slam shut and ran downstairs to find her purse missing. It was found intact with just a few dollars missing at a public park in the Heritage Park subdivision.
