HOUSTON—A scorned woman is accused of setting up a Craigslist ad soliciting sex in the name of her ex-boyfriend’s new lover, which prompted strange men to show up at the unsuspecting woman’s home, according to investigators with the Harris County Constable Precinct 4 Office.
Samantha Weber, 38, was charged with felony online solicitation.
Investigators said Weber’s ex-boyfriend began confronting strange men who began popping up at his new girlfriend’s home on April 18. The men said they were responding to an ad found on the Internet offering sexual services at that address, then showed him the ad with a picture of his girlfriend attached. The girlfriend never placed that ad and had no idea what the men were talking about.
The boyfriend ran the men off, then called to report the matter.
Investigators located the ad and began to track down its source. Based off the email address and phone number used to set up the account, they were able to trace it all back to Weber and official charges were filed around September 18.
Investigators said Weber had intent to harm, defraud, intimidate and threaten the victim by posting one or more messages on and through an Internet site without consent.
She was picked up and her bail was set at $5,000.
