(KMOV.COM) – The FBI says the number of laser pointers aimed at airplanes is reaching epidemic levels.
Agents say there could be 3,700 laser strikes by the end of the year. There were only 283 strikes in 2005.
Laser pointers can cause disorientation for pilots especially during critical moments flight such as taking off and landing. Anyone who intentionally points a laser at an aircraft faces prison time and hefty fines.
