The parents of a toddler cut on a playground booby-trapped with razor blades in East Moline, Ill. are speaking out.

The razor blades were discovered Monday in the community’s Millennium Park while 2-year-old Madden Jenks was playing on the monkey bars on his dad Jayson’s shoulder.

“He said ‘ouch,’ Jayson put him down because he thought maybe it was hurting his hands, the coldness of the bars, and he started bleeding and we looked and they were everywhere, razor blades were everywhere,” said Madden’s mom, Sally Jenks.

Razor blades were glued to playground equipment everywhere and Madden was bleeding badly.

All told, at least a dozen straight-edge razor blades were found blade side up on park equipment. They were strategically placed to hurt and cut kids, including at the bottom of the slide.

“To be plotted out for like 20 to 30 minutes, I feel that’s pretty sick, psychotic in a way,” said resident Chris Minor.

While everyone questions why, police are trying to find out who by taking fingerprints and looking at possible leads. Police also canvassed the city’s other parks, but haven’t found any other razor blades.

“It could have been horrible, it could have sliced his hand open completely,” said Jayson Jenks. “If he was older and he was really swinging on the monkey bars and grabbed it, it would have mutilated his hand.”
