PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. (AP) -- Police officers have bid a solemn farewell to one of their own who was killed in an accident while leading President Barack Obama's motorcade.

Bruce St. Laurent was hit by a pickup truck Sunday while attempting to shut down a stretch of Interstate 95 in West Palm Beach, where Obama was traveling for a campaign stop.

Officers from around the state and country turned out his funeral Friday.

Gov. Rick Scott and the director of the U.S. Secret Service were among those who paid their respects.

St. Laurent's casket was carried into a Palm Beach Gardens church by eight uniformed officers. Eulogies honored him as a trusted colleague and big-hearted friend.
