LIBERTY COUNTY, Texas – Authorities are searching for a dog who killed a woman Monday morning in a subdivision just outside Dayton city limits.
According to the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office, a husband received a call from his wife while he was at work in Pearland. The woman told him that their dog had bit her, and then the line suddenly went dead.
The husband called the sheriff’s office just after 10 a.m. and asked that they go check on his wife. As deputies arrived at the scene in the Woodland Hills subdivision, they were confronted by an aggressive dog with the home’s gated front yard.
With the husband still on the phone with the sheriff’s office, he tells them to shoot the dog.
As the deputy approached the front porch, he shot the dog once and then it ran off. However, the dog returned and the deputy fired two more shots before the animal fled under a fence and into the nearby woods.
The deputies enter the home to find the woman dead from dog bites. For more on the developing story, watch KHOU 11 News at 4 p.m.
