RICHMOND, Texas—A man ran out in front of an 18-wheeler in an apparent act of suicide after stabbing his girlfriend multiple times, according to investigators.
Richmond police say the man, 33, and woman, 34, had an argument at an apartment complex at 2010 Thompson highway around 11 p.m. Saturday night when she told him she wanted to break up.
According to witnesses, they heard screaming before observing the suspect get into his truck to leave the complex.
The girlfriend came around to the parking lot and the man allegedly attempted to run her over with his truck. The woman went to ask for help at another apartment, where police found her on the floor with multiple stab wounds.
She was flown by Life Flight to Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston. She was in serious but stable condition on Sunday morning.
Around 12:53 a.m., the Sugar Land Police Department notified Richmond officers of a fatal accident on 59 at Highway 6 that they believed involved the stabbing suspect.
Witnesses told police the suspect pulled his truck over in the HOV lane before getting out and running in front of an 18-wheeler. He was struck and killed.
