DICKINSON, Texas — One girl is in critical condition at a Houston hospital and another is hospitalized at Clear Lake Regional Medical Center after both drank lighter fluid Saturday, Dickinson police said.

The lighter fluid was in an unlabeled water bottle inside the car the girls were riding in, police said.

According to a Dickinson police report, the 5-year-old siblings where with their mother at a gas station in the 3600 block of Interstate 45 when they grabbed the bottle and drank the clear liquid inside.

The girl’s mother told police that the bottle, which was stored in a car door panel, had been there since July 4.
