A tornado in Wichita damaged the company that makes large portions of the Boeing 737 and the 787 Dreamliner.

The twister damaged Spirit AeroSystems and the Boeing military plants late Saturday.

Spirit "took a direct hit," reported the Wichita Eagle.

No injuries were reported.

CEO Jeff Turner said the majority of capabilities are intact.

Spirit makes all of the 737 bodies, as well as the forward third of the fusilage for the 787 Dreamliner.

Spirit has told Wichita employees to stay home while company assesses damage and impact to operations. Operations are suspended for Monday and Tuesday.

"We're working with Spirit to assess the situation," said Larry Wilson, a Boeing spokesman who works with suppliers.

The 737 factory in Renton is operating at record speed and is make more than 35 planes a month now, with plans to ramp up to 42 a month. So not getting fusilages from Wichita would present a problem.
