BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- A new study finds that women can have an orgasm just by working out.

Researchers from Indiana University  found that women experienced orgasms or sexual pleasure when performing certain exercises. According to Indiana University researcher Debby Herbenick, the experience is sometimes called "coregasm" because of the association of utilizing the core abdominal muscles.

"The most common exercises associated with the experience were climbing poles or ropes, biking/spinning and weight lifting," Herbenick said.

The Indiana University study is based from an online survey of women who ranged in age from 18 to 63 and revealed that 40 percent of the women who did experience an orgasm say it happened on more than 10 occasions.

Herbenick said "that the mechanisms behind exercise-induced orgasm and exercise-induced sexual pleasure remain unclear and, in future research, they hope to learn more about triggers for both." She also said that study findings may help women who experience exercise-induced orgasms (EIO) or exercise-induced sexual pleasure (EISP) feel more normal about their experiences or put them into context.
