Police: 2 men rob student on SIU-Edwardsville campus

EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. (KMOV) – Police are investigating after a student was robbed at gunpoint on the campus of Southern Illinois University Edwardsville early Monday morning.

Authorities say a 20-year-old male student was confronted by two men around 1 a.m. at the Cougar Village student housing complex.

The suspects reportedly stole a small amount of cash from the victim before fleeing.  The suspects were last seen traveling eastbound on Cougar Lake Drive.

The university has issued an alert to students by text message and on the school’s website. One suspect is described as in his 20s, thin and wearing a black jacket and stocking cap and carrying a handgun. The second suspect also is described in his 20s and thin with a gray coat and stocking cap.
