(KMOV) – A possible conflict of interest forced Zoo Museum District board member Patricia Whitaker to resign Tuesday.
Whitaker is a founder of Arcturis, a design firm which recently won a contract to design a multi-million dollar project at the St. Louis Science Center. In her resignation letter Whitaker writes “[W]hen I became aware that Arcturis … was a finalist for the potential contract with the Science Center, I went to the ZMD Attorney. I asked for his advice and followed that advice.”
St. Louis County Executive Charley Dooley thanked Whitaker, stating “I’m sure it was a difficult personal decision but I know Pat did not want to have the Board be distracted from its work and I appreciate her acting as quickly as she did.”
The board will begin filling her vacancy in a timely manner.
