ST. LOUIS COUNTY (KMOV.com) – A woman found murdered in a condominium after a two-alarm fire was a St. Louis County police employee, according to officials.

Deirdre Exum, 51, was found dead in the first floor of a condominium on the 6600 block of Chesapeake around 4 p.m. Friday.

A police investigation revealed that the victim had died from blunt force trauma. Investigators say Exum was murdered prior to the start of the fire.

When firefighters from Spanish Lake arrived, they reported seeing smoke from several blocks away, and flames through the roof of the structure.

Exum had worked for the St. Louis County Police as armed security at police headquarters since 2008.

St. Louis County police ask anyone with further information related to the crime to contact them at 314-889-2341, or make an anonymous call to Crimestoppers at 866-371-TIPS.
