(KMOV) – Police confirm an unoccupied vehicle was struck by a train in south St. Louis Tuesday morning.
Authorities say a car was near the tracks at Manchester and Sulpher Avenue when a passing train struck the car around 5:45 a.m.
Upon further investigation, no one was inside the vehicle at the time of the collision. The train was travelling from East St. Louis to Kansas City, Kansas.
The crew on board report seeing a person running from the car shortly before it was struck.
No other details into the investigation have been released at this time.
