(KMOV) News 4 is tracking a crime trend in west St. Louis County. More than a dozen cars were broken into in one apartment complex and the thieves are still on the loose. Just two weeks ago News 4 reported on how burglars are also breaking into homes nearby.
At least 13 cars were broken into Monday night in the Willowbend Apartment Complex right off the highway in Town and Country.
Police say a stolen pickup truck was found nearby with items inside that were reported stolen from many of the cars.
Turns out the stolen truck is registered to someone in the City of Saint Louis leading police to believe these criminals are coming from elsewhere.
A Town and Country resident tells News 4, “It’s a higher price than other areas so to think about the type of community and the type of people who choose to live here; one might understand you’d find things in homes or cars.”
Town and Country seems to be a target for crime right now. Just recently we told you about the burglars breaking into homes at the end of cul-de-sacs.
Police say it’s because of these recent crimes they’re putting extra officers in certain neighborhoods.
Lt. Bob Arthur with Town and Country Police said, “I can’t over-emphasize…if it doesn’t feel or look right you need to call us.”
So far no one has been caught for these crimes. We’ll let you know when an arrest is made.
