ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) -- Two carjackings and a car stolen with a baby inside within a 24 hour period have drivers nervous in north St. Louis.

Tuesday night’s car theft was near Shreve Avenue and Bircher Boulevard, and involved a one-year-old was left inside.

The carjackings also happened near each other and St. Louis Alderman Antonio French says poverty and poor economic times are contributing to the stolen car problem.

He says the neighborhood is doing its best to try and fight the issue, but says  more police officers are needed on the ground in these neighborhoods.
