(KMOV.com) – Police are looking for a suspect who stole a car containing a toddler outside an ATM in Midtown St. Louis late Tuesday night.
St. Louis Metropolitan Police said a father left his 2-year-old son in the car while he went to make a transaction at an ATM at the St. Louis Community Credit Union on Forest Park Avenue around 11:40 p.m.
Authorities said that’s when the father saw a suspect jump inside and drive off with the car.
According to police, about six minutes after the car was taken they received a 911 call telling them where the stolen car was located.
Authorities recovered the car in the 2800 block of Montgomery, about four miles away from where it was stolen. Police said the 2-year-old boy was still sleeping in the vehicle.
Police said while they had no information on the suspect, they were hoping ATM video would help their efforts.
