2 arrested after high-speed police chase, crash in St. Louis
(KMOV) -- Two suspects were in custody after a routine traffic stop in St. Ann turned into a wild police chase into St. Louis city late Tuesday night.
According to St. Ann Police Chief Aaron Jimenez, officers pulled over the suspects for a traffic stop near the Regions Bank in the 10000 block of St. Charles Rock Road.
Police say the suspects then fled and nearly hit a pedestrian, prompting the officer to give chase.
The suspects led police down Interstate 70 heading east into St. Louis, reaching speeds of up to 100 mph for about 12 miles.
Authorities say the suspects hit a St. Ann police car during the chase and nearly ran over a pedestrian before crashing in north St. Louis.
Police say the suspects got out of the car and ran into a house in the 4700 block of Farlin Ave. They were arrested and taken into custody.
"Our cars had gotten damage, some minor damage," said Jimenez. "Thank God no citizens got hurt."
One officer refused treatment at the scene. No other injuries were reported.
