(KMOV.com) – Thursday was a busy night for the road crews working to keep the streets of St. Louis clear.

By Thursday evening, News 4 crews couldn’t find a single car that was stuck and needed a push; partly because roads are in better shape and partly because there’s very little traffic.

However, the street crews had a big push overnight to prepare the roads for the morning rush hour.

The city promised main arterial roads would be in good shape by Thursday night and many of the roads, including Grand Boulevard,  saw traffic moving easily.

Overnight, the city’s snowplows focused on clearing secondary roads. Some residents say their neighborhoods are starting to shape up.

“My neighborhood here is fine, everything is great,” said Rita McMillan. “The side roads still have a little bit of snow but still there’s traction so everthing is fine.”

However in Lafayette Square, others are concerned about neighborhood safety. Some residental streets there was still wall to wall snow

As crews work throughout the night, the City is optimistic that they will have most roads clear by Friday morning.

If residents can make it out of their neighborhoods, the drive to work should be an easy one.
