(KMOV) – A St. Louis man serving a life sentence could be free because he was 16 when the crime happened.

A new sentence hearing for Ledale Nathan Jr., started Monday. He was convicted in 2009 for a home invasion that left Gina Stallis dead. Authorities said the robbery occurred at a home in the Lasalle Park neighborhood. Nathan had been convicted of 26 counts including murder and first degree assault.

The U.S Supreme Court banned automatic life sentences for juveniles, so Nathan’s case is being revisited. He may receive a new sentence with the possibility of parole.
