(KMOV) – A police officer was hospitalized after she crashed into a KFC in north St. Louis County on Thursday.

Authorities said the St. Louis County officer was responding to a call when she was clipped by another vehicle near the intersection of Larimore and Sierra Vista Parkway around 9:50 a.m.

But according to the other driver, she tried to turn left when she was hit by the officer on the left side.

The officer then crashed into a nearby KFC restaurant.

Police said the officer was transported to the hospital with a broken ankle and was expected to be OK.

Authorities said employees were inside the KFC when the wreck happened. No other injuries were reported.

Police said the other driver involved in the wreck stayed at the scene.

According to police, the officer had her lights and sirens on when the wreck occurred. The victim’s husband, though, said the officer did not have her sirens on.

Additional information was not immediately available.
