(KMOV) – St. Charles Police are searching for a person of interest for their alleged involvement in the death of man in Blanchette Park on Saturday.

Police believe Daveon L. Morrison, also known as Da Dha Bang, 19, may be involved in the death of 24-year-old Martell Crump, but police have not officially said what Morrison's involvement may be. It is believed that Morrison and Crump knew each other.

During the shooting, a family reunion and football practice were taking place at the park. "(This is) one of the last place I would think of a shooting," said Coach Ray Taylor.

Authorities believe an argument between the alleged suspect and victim happened around 6:35 p.m. During the argument, Crump was shot with a handgun. He was transported to a local hospital where he later died.

One witness said Morrison pulled the trigger, but the gun jammed. He tried a second time, shot the victim, stood over him for several seconds, then calmly walked away from the scene.

Investigators are asking Morrison to contact the St. Charles Police and turn himself in.

Anyone with information regarding the shooting is asked to call St. Charles Police at 636-949-3309.

Police are urging the public not to approach Morrison, who they believe may be armed and dangerous.

The investigation is ongoing.
