(KMOV.com) -- Looking up at the night sky Thursday night may be quite a show.  The annual Geminid meteor shower peaks Thursday night where viewers could see as many as 100 shooting stars per hour.

Due to the moon’s current phase, Geminid will bring one of the biggest and most visible meteor showers of the year.  For interested viewers, ideal conditions include a clear night sky and a nearby, rural area.

“You can look into the eastern sky at night with best viewing usually before dawn,” said News 4’s Chief Meteorologist Steve Templeton.

Experts suggest getting outside early enough that your eyes can adjust completely to darkness.
