Pedestrian struck, critically injured along I-70 in St. Charles

ST. CHARLES, Mo. (KMOV.com) -- The Missouri Highway Patrol is investigating after a pedestrian was struck and critically injured on Interstate 70 in St. Charles on Thursday evening.

The accident happened on westbound Interstate 70 near South 5th St. around 4:45 p.m.

Several lanes of traffic were closed for about 45 minutes while emergency crews treated the victim. All lanes of traffic are now reopen

The pedestrian was transported to St. John's Hospital in critical condition. Authorities say he is expected to survive.

No word yet on what caused the vehicle to strike the pedestrian.
