Rolla, Mo. (KMOV) – Police are currently investigating a possible attempted child abduction that occurred on Thursday afternoon in Rolla, Missouri.

Police say a man in a newer four-door passenger car approached a child near the intersection of Holloway and Missouri Avenue and yelled “get in the car,” around 3:15 p.m.  The child then ran back to Truman Elementary School as the man started to get out of the car.

At this time, police are not sure if this was an actual attempted abduction or if the person of interest mistook the child as someone else.

The child described the person of interest as a black male, possibly in his 20s, thin build, bald and wearing a black t-shirt.  The man’s vehicle is believed to be smaller than a Ford Taurus.

Police say the suspect is unknown at this time.

Anyone with information about this incident is urged to call Sgt. Wayne Rapier at 575-308-1213.
