VALLEY PARK, Mo (KMOV) – Two Valley Park bond issues lost in Tuesday night's election, resulting in less money for desperate school needs.

Proposition C is a bond issue for the school and Proposition S is a property tax increase for area residents, and both lost by a wide margin.

The ballot issues were meant to address school safety and security after the district reviewed their plans and procedures shortly after the Sandy Hook shootings.

Changes were to include classroom door locks, security cameras, door buzzers and additional resource officers.

If they passed, the tax bill for a Valley Park home valued at $100,000 would have increase by about $120 a year.

Both propositions failing means Valley Park would fall further behind other districts when it comes to safety and security.

The school district serves about 11,000 students.
