(KMOV) – Authorities are searching for a missing wolf after they were notified of a wolf spotting early Saturday morning in the Robertsville area.

As police were searching for the wolf, they were notified by a resident on Jenny Lane saying their dog was missing. After continuous searching, the wolf and dog were located near a residence close to the dog owner’s home.

Authorities found the dog dead and is believed to have been killed by the wolf. The owner of the wolf was contacted to secure the animal, but was unable to. The wolf escaped and has not been captured.

Anyone who sees the wolf should not approach it. Instead, they are asked to call the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office at 636-583-2560.
