MANCHESTER, Mo. (KMOV) – Manchester police say their investigation into a man who allegedly “spiked” the soup container with a foreign substance at a Dierberg’s Market salad bar on March 28 is going well.
The incident happened at the Dierberg’s Market at 421 Lafayette Center.
Witnesses saw the man putting something into the soup and alerted store workers. The employees removed the soup before anyone bought any after the man was spotted doctoring it.
Police released two videos from store surveillance that they say show the man who tampered with the soup.
A spokesperson for Dierberg's said the store took extra steps to ensure the safety of the salad bar following the incident.
The FBI is also investigating the case. Because the suspect is accused of tampering with a consumer product at a store that does interstate business, federal agents have joined with local authorities.
The man was described by police as white, ranging in age from 50 to 60. He has a heavy build and a light beard.
Manchester Police are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying this man. Anyone with information is asked to call the Manchester Police Department at (636) 227-1410 or CrimeStoppers, (314)725-8477.
