(KMOV.com) – A St. Louis teen faces 11 charges, including murder, after police say he attempted to flee an arrest and caused an accident that killed one person and injured two others.
According to police, officers were looking for 18-year-old William Gallagher and a 16-year-old girl, when they spotted them in a stolen vehicle near Grand Boulevard and Osage around 2 p.m. Tuesday.
Police said as officers asked them to get out of the car, Gallagher put his vehicle in reverse, almost hitting an officer, and fled the scene east on Osage.
Authorities said he then hit a car with three people inside, including an 87-year-old woman identified as Virginia Bedrosian.
The suspect then attempted to escape on foot, but was captured by police after a short pursuit in the area.
Bedrosian was taken to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead. The other two victims were transported to the hospital, but their conditions were unknown.
The 16-year-old girl with Gallagher was also arrested at the scene. She was taken to the hospital for a wellness check, then transferred over to juvenile authorities.
Charges against Gallagher include murder, fleeing the scene, resisting arrest and assault on a law enforcement officer.
