(KMOV.com) -- Officials in Alton will hold an “Amnesty Day” Saturday afternoon.

Alton officials said if a person has a warrant out for arrest for a misdemeanor, traffic ticket or ordinance violation, they can get work out an arrangement with the court.

People will need to bring a photo I.D. and any paperwork connected to the case from 9:00 a.m. until noon at the Alton Law Enforcement Center at 1700 East Broadway.

Police said “Amnesty Day” helps clear up misdemeanor cases, but it is not a free pass. They said people will be able to obtain a new court date or pay fees without heading to jail.
