Police believe robbery, Brentwood carjacking may be connected

(KMOV.com) – Police told News 4 they believe a robbery and carjacking that occurred over the weekend might be connected.

Police told News 4 a woman was robbed a by a suspect around 11:30 p.m. in the 7000 block of Corbitt in University City. Authorities said a woman was getting out of her car when a man approached her before showing a gun and taking her purse.

"She said ‘two men robbed me in a black car with a gun. They made me lay on the grass,’ neighbor Clarence Borders said.

Authorities said the suspects then drove away in a dark or metallic Chevy Monte Carlo.

Police said they received a call about a carjacking one hour later in Brentwood. The incident occurred in the 8900 block of Swan. Police said two men approached a man, displayed a weapon, and took his car before crashing into another car on Aubert Avenue in north St. Louis. Police said the driver of the other car was hospitalized with unknown injuries. The two suspects then fled the scene.

Authorities told News 4 the descriptions of the suspects in each case are similar but police are not sure if the same culprits are behind both crimes.

According to police, the victims in both incidents were not hurt.
