ST. LOUIS (KMOV) – St. Louis County police say they have arrested a man they believe kidnapped a Washington University student and forced her to withdraw money from multiple ATMS.

William James Cobbins, 22, was charged with first-degree robbery and kidnapping.

According to police, the victim said she was entering her vehicle in Washington University’s Snow Way garage on August 28 around 9:40 p.m. when Cobbins approached.

Police said Cobbins told her he had a knife and demanded she drive to several ATMS in St. Louis to withdraw money from her bank account.

Authorities said Cobbins eventually got out of the victim’s vehicle somewhere in the city. The victim then drove home.

Police said the victim was able to identify Cobbins after he was caught on Metro Link and campus security cameras. He was arrested at his house in on Monday.

Authorities said they believe he may be tied to numerous armed robberies in the area.

His bond was set at $75,000.
